The cuvee Libertine is a special Champagne, which required about 10 years of research. The aim was to meet the same taste characteristics of 18th century sparkling wines, with a higher sugar level than today’s champagnes. Libertine has 65g of sugar per liter (prepared with old wines of Champagne, more than 20 years old). This is a sweet champagne, with light effervescence. The challenge to have a balance between a high sugar dose and a fresh finish has been a success.
The Doyard family can be rooted in Champagne back in the 17th century. Yannick Doyard takes over in 1979 and brings the domaine on the front scene of independent small growers. The vineyard is about 10 hectares of vines in Vertus and the Grand Cru villages of Le Mesnil, Cramant, Oger, Avize and Ay.
