Birthplace of Napoleon, Corsica is the one French wine region that perhaps owes as much to the Italian winemaking tradition as to the French one. The region has a very old viticultural history and now produces top quality wines divided into nine different appellations, the first one being established in 1968 as Patrimonio. The three leading grape varieties are Nielluccio, Sciacarello and Vermentino, although we can find more than 40 grape varieties on the island, with many of them reflecting Italian influences. A great region to discover immediately.
